If you take nothing else away from MCD, remember this. The key to admissions success is applying to the right colleges--and only the right colleges.
Identifying those institutions isn't easy, but the theory is simple: the student should be able to answer "yes" to all the questions below before submitting an application.
Affordability
Will my projected net price be within the family's budget?Needless to say, parental oversight is required here.
Affinity/Appeal
How interesting and compelling is the college? Does it offer everything the student seeks? In short, does it check the boxes?
Admissibility
Does the student meet the criteria for admission?
The prevailing misconception is that the answers to these questions are impossible to answer in advance of the colleges search. They are not.
